Putting up Nestboxes and Recording Trees at Chain Wood

Putting up nestboxes and recording trees at Chain Wood yesterday with volunteers.

A GPS is used to record the grid reference for each tree recorded and records of girth, type of growth form and other characteristics are recorded.

The conifer has been felled in this wood to bring it back to a broad-leaved woodland.

The nestboxes will supplement the lack of natural nesting holes in the remaining broad-leaved trees.
